The Polyphagous shot-hole borer has been found in areas in metropolitan Perth and Lockie’s favourite park, Stirling Gardens hasn’t been immune to its invasion.
The beetle, native to Southeast Asia, tunnels itself into trunks, branches and stems of trees and plants. The affected plants need to be pruned or removed to avoid the spread of this destructive pest.
The City of Perth is working hard to eradicate this introduced species, that is threatening the trees and plants that we enjoy.
