Dancing in the Circle - Lockie The Famous City Dog

Lockie and I visited the grounds of WA Museum Boola Bardip on Thursday. We read about the ‘Dance Circle’ that encourages visitors to take their shoes off, enter the circle and feel the earth beneath their feet.

The circle is important to the Whadjuk Nyoongar people as it is a place to share dance, stories and knowledge. It also represents the importance of connection to country. It reminded me of when I visited there with my grandchildren a few years ago. My granddaughter took up the invitation and danced in the circle. The generosity of the Whadjuk Nyoongar people to allow everyone to participate in the ‘Dance Circle’ made us feel very honoured. Such a special memory.
