As we near the end of 2025, I find myself looking back to the special things that happened this year. This is up there at the top of the list!

In November, with only 3 weeks left of the school year, I received an email from a teacher. She had included over 20 letters (one from every student in her class) to Lockie. She had come across the video of me reading Lockie’s book and showed it to the children. They loved the story and the watercolour illustrations (by Rina Bhabra).

One child suggested that they should write to Lockie asking her to visit their school. The letters were heartfelt and real and they genuinely understood what the book, ‘Lockie the Famous City Dog’, was all about. Some letters were carefully structured and others were simple and to the point, but they all related to Lockie.

So the very next week Lockie and I visited their class, and I read the book and answered lots of questions. We talked about the city and the places they’d visited, and we talked about Lockie and their dogs at home.

We’ve visited lots of schools this year and have loved every class, but reading all these fan letters to Lockie, well that made our year! Lockie certainly thinks so too.
