I’m old enough to remember taking photos on a camera and sending the film to get developed. Oh, the excitement of opening the envelope of pictures!
There was either elation or heartbreak, depending on the images. It was a leap of faith, because there was no going back. Those moments had passed.
Some weeks ago, we came across a young man who was taking photos at Cathedral Square. I was attempting to take a photo of Lockie on my phone and he was taking photos with a camera. A camera, with real film!
Lockie was being her irresistible self and he came over to say hello. I discovered that film photography is having a resurgence with a new generation who have become captivated by the charm of film photography. Or maybe they just love that feeling of anticipation when they open that envelope!
Irohas Perth, is in Trinity Arcade and sells disposable cameras and film as well as developing the photos and scanning. Lockie and I visited to have a look for ourselves, everything old is new again!
