Lockie at The Pagoda

If you’ve driven on the Kwinana Freeway you would’ve noticed this imposing building in Como. Lockie is sitting in front of one of our most recognisable buildings. The Pagoda was built in 1922 as a Chinese Tearoom.

At the time, Como Beach was very popular, of course the freeway wasn’t there then. Over the years it has been a skating rink, a ballroom and now a restaurant / reception area and hotel.

The city of Perth and the Pagoda’s purpose may change and evolve, but the striking architecture (weirdly out of place) will remain a welcome sight whenever I drive past.
