Here’s Lockie at the ‘Moodjar Sentinels’, that are part of the Rio Tinto Christmas Light Trail in the city. It’s an interactive installation highlighting the importance of the Moodjar Tree, in the Noongar culture.
It is believed that this tree, native to Southwest Western Australia, is the keeper of ancestral spirits and every flower on the tree represents a person who has passed.
The installation in Barrack Square, is beautiful in the day and the night. In the evening the flowers move and you can listen to the Moodjar story.
